The heritage-listed site beneath the Story Bridge has been transformed into a lifestyle precinct offering dining, recreation, and accommodation. The long-abandoned wharf buildings—rare surviving examples of Brisbane’s early infrastructure—have been respectfully refurbished and now play host a series of eateries and event spaces. Bordered by parks, cliff face, and 500 metres of river, there is plenty of public space for people and pets to enjoy.
The precinct also includes a luxury sustainable hotel, Crystalbrook Vincent. Howard Smith Wharves was the inaugural recipient awarded Heritage Hero Status by the National Trust in 2018.
